How Quick is Your Response?

As soon as the angel was gone, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier, one of his personal attendants. He told them what happened and sent them off to Joppa. Acts 10:7-8 (NLT)
As parents, we want our children to obey right away—not when they feel like it. I believe our Father God wants the same from His children. He has a master plan and our timely obedience plays an important part in that plan.
Look at how quickly Cornelius responded to God’s instructions. What if he had just said, “Yes, Lord,” put it on his “To Do” list, and then did it when he got around to it? No one would have been around to meet Peter in Joppa just after he had received the vision of the unclean creatures. Peter himself could have taken days—or even longer—to ponder on the vision until he felt he understood what God was saying to him.
Instead, it took both Cornelius and Peter obeying right away; and with their prompt response a door was opened wide for all Gentiles—including us—to hear about the saving grace of Jesus. We’ll never know how our quick obedience will affect the master plan of God. What doors will it open? Will we say, “Yes!” to God and do His will in His time…or in our own time when we “feel” like it? Let’s pray for one another to respond to God right away!
Jesus, help us to obey right away whether it’s convenient —or if we understand—or not
